How do you move on from the trauma of a revolution? How do different people cope, and how do you heal without pushing each other away? How do you find love and joy again? It’s a story about Eden’s struggle to find himself in his famous brother’s shadow, of Day’s yearning for a love he thought he had lost, and of a pair of brothers with a bond that is tested again and again. This story has been sitting in my mind since the end of Champion, but it took me a long time to understand why I wanted it to exist. REBEL is set in Ross City, Antarctica after the epilogue of Champion, told from the dual points of view of Day and his younger brother Eden, and features June and several other old faces from the original trilogy as well as some new players. (Yes, it is a direct reference to Eden’s eyes, which have retained a permanent tint of violet from his childhood injuries.)
